New Year's RESOLUTION

vs EVOLUTION

I think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the years’.
— Henry Moore

What is the established visionary time frame of a 'New Year Resolution?' I'm going to play devil's advocate here and give it a presumptive week to three weeks tops. By then, most of the human population trickle back into the ninety-five percent bodily comfort zone. Those that surpass this kudos, yet in actuality, it wasn't really for successors a resolution; it was evolution.

Need I say more? Of course, I do;)

There lies a significant distinction between resolution and evolution. While resolution carries its idealistic 'MO,' positivity, and essentially a congregation of 'yes I can,' it's missing its main bodily component of innate growth. It's similar to purchasing a bag of apples, grapes, or fruits; there are always a few bad apples. Keep them in the bag long enough, and the rest will deteriorate.

So while it's great to initiate and promise yourself a newly developed grandiose willpower for the New Year, I urge you to try a more promising methodology.

Every Day is a New Day

As time goes by, and it always does; eventually, so will the New Year's hype.' How much willpower is left? I get it; we all need the inspiration to get us going. I know it's super challenging to construct changes within ourselves and those we long for. Though here's the thing; so long as you peek for an external form of inspiration, the willpower will stay external as well.

The trick here is to develop an internal inspiration. What? An inner inspiration; whatever do you mean by that? Isn't drinking, eating, sleeping, and now even social media an internal motivation? Do you compromise on these living essentials? No, of course, you do not. Devote the same doctrine to your mental, physical, and emotional growth mechanism and experience evolution.

Trust me, when you even remotely begin to sense this evolution, you will know it. It will evolve an energy source from within yourself that will continue to power and run for you to persist on this path. You will acknowledge these changes and meet a new version of yourself with every passing moment and day. Rather than thy neighbor who claims they will stop smoking this new year and you see them a few weeks in their perpetual state.

It's not about 'January 1, 2023,' or '2024' or any number. The date is perceptional; it's all irrelevant. The truth is 'time is of the essence.' Appreciate the time you own; today and now. Why wait for tomorrow to change. If your current state of being is satisfied with pushing off your willpower another twenty-four to thirty-six hours, what is the guarantee you will not push it again further or even follow through?

Don't wait! Every Day is a New Day!

Dear brother, you’re becoming predictable. I trust you, you betray me, round and round in circles we go. See Loki, life is about... It’s about growth, it’s about change, but you seem to just want to stay the same. I guess what I’m trying to say is that you’ll always be the god of mischief, but you could be more.
— CHRIS HEMSWORTH - Thor

You Have to Grow

You can't be the same person you were when you were younger. Experience, conflicts, struggles are all lessons of life. What is the point of prevailing them and still behaving like a weakling? You cannot be terrified of the challenge; you must harbor to grow into the challenge. You cannot be fearful of a new person in your life; you should try to trust them. You cannot give up on a superb notion because of your fears; you should drive into it with tremendous ambition. If it worked, you would see growth; if it doesn't, you will feel growth still.

So go ahead and:

  1. Make a list of your most significant and smallest desires.

  2. Prioritize them.

  3. Start with just one or two so you don't feel overwhelmed.

  4. Remember, the inspiration should come from within - for yourself's best interest.

  5. Keep tugging along, telling yourself this is not a resolution; this IS the New You!

  6. Reward yourself weekly as an accomplishment, whether it's a fifteen-minute solace break or a social night.

  7. Keep a tracking list of your improvements, accomplishments, achievements and read them as often as you like. It will serve as validation and increase the desire to flourish.

  8. Speak of your development with interests and be proud. Pass on the newly gained confidence. Be sure not to come off vainglorious. That would be counterproductive. It's about accomplishments and humility, not arrogance.

Ergo remember, it’s not about what; it’s about you. Fuel your own desires and win your own battles to evolve into the person you see daily and you can say with reassurance, ‘I love who I am becoming and I will continue to grow without limitations.’

A resolution is only an evolution if you are resolute.

Evolutionarily Yours,
